Phishing Phishing is a criminal activity using fake e-mail or deceptive link manipulation and disguise as an official message from financial institution to fraudulently acquire vital information such as personal financial information, credit card information, customer account number, password, ATM PIN, personal identification number, social security number, and etc. Phishers will then use this information for their businesses and frauds. Most of phishing trick customers by using psychological tactics, build up message’s trustworthy by pointing urgency needed for customer to reply as soon as possible such as “IMPORTANT : We are closing your account”, “Your credit card will be expired soon”, “Please fill in our customer survey”. Offering an attractive promotion campaign is also one of the most popular phishing methods. Misled customers will dangerously expose his/her information online, or taken by the deceptive to another website.
To protect your information against phishing
Do not run the software embedded with the e-mail since it may have been developed to penetrate the computer to retrieve your private information, or even worse, destroy data or systems contained in your computer.
